Germans wanted to escape their repressive government and saw Texas as a land of opportunity. Many Germans settled in central Texas, especially around Fredericksburg. The map shows this area in green around Fredericksburg called “Deutsche Colonie des Mainzen Vereins. Gulf of Mexico is “Meerbusen von Mexico”, Pacific Ocean is “Grosser oder Stiller Ocean”, and Caribbean is “Caribisches od Antillen Meer. This map shows minor natural age spots and has an antique look. There is an altitude chart on the bottom of the map. The map has Mexico, Californien, Die Republiken von Central America, and surrounding states and territories. There is a yellow color area around Castroville for the French titles “Franz Colonie”.
